Day 90: I'm not trapped in another universe, my...
It’s over. I’m back home, safe and sound. I’ve stepped out of the Tardis doors for the last time for a while. I’m not sure when I’m going to get the chance to walk back into the big blue box, but I hope it’s soon. So what’s next for me? A summer of working at Disneyland hopefully, then some time off to relax (what is relaxing again?) then to San Diego for...

Day 89: Last Day!!!
Tuesday was the last full day at the castle. I woke up around ten to start on my paper, but instead perused the internet. Then it was lunchtime, and after we had room checks, so of course no paper writing could take place due to all of the commotion and craziness of packing. I had been packed for a few days beforehand, so I had nothing to worry about. After, I got down to write my paper and got it...

Day 88: The Final Final!
Monday morning, I woke up and took my art history final. It was surprisingly easy and I feel like I did really well. I studied a lot, and I hope it will pay off! So after that, I spent my time watching Pocahontas for my last paper of the semester, and then attempting to write that paper, but I only got to 1000 words. Oh well. I have until Tuesday at 5pm. So I packed some more stuff and threw...

Day 87: Finals Round 2
Sunday I woke up at a decent hour, 10 am, to study for my World Drama final. I went back and edited my paper and once I was done with that, I began to study. Then it was lunch, then after lunch I studied for a good two hours for my final, reviewing my notes and such. Then I took the final, which was much easier than last time. I feel like I did pretty well! After I had some time to relax, so I...

Day 86: Finals Round One
Saturday was the first day of finals! I woke up early to study for my History final at 10am. I studied, then took the final which was just as I expected, so I feel that I did really well and will get a good grade on it and in the class overall. After was lunch and after that began my streak of procrastination and not wanting to do my papers or study for my other finals. I didn’t...

Day 85: It's like The Hunger Games!!!
Friday was super fun. The day began with me thinking it was 9:45 am when I woke up, but it was actually 11. Then it was lunch. Most of the day I spent procrastinating not wanting to study or do homework, so I watched some TV and colored a Dalek. Dinner was kind of bleh, but after dinner is when things got serious. We had a giant game of capture the flag with all four houses competing against each...

Day 83 and 84: Closer to Home.
Wednesday was a pretty awesome day. Firstly, the president of the college came to visit. He made an appearance in the dining hall and spent most of the day in meetings with Dulcia or sitting in on classes. He was pretty jetlagged and probably won’t remember most of what happend. Heck! I can’t remember anything from the first weekend because I was so tired!!! I had history class in the morning...

Overall thoughts on castle (if there's any post...
I should probably do this on day 90, but at that point, I’ll be back home, in my bed in California, and I would rather write this while I’m still at the castle. Sorry this is probably really rambley and doesn’t make a lot of sense, but oh well! That’s just the way my brain works.
So, to begin with, this program has been one of the best things of my life. I am so bless and...

Day 82: If at first you don't succeed, bowl again....
Today was my last really full day of classes. The morning started out with World Drama where I gave a presentation that the teacher completely forgot about. Great, awesome. Whatever. As long as it makes my grade better, I don’t really care. We first watched a documentary on Peter Brook, a famous theatre director. I’ve decided I don’t really like him. His ideas are interesting and...

Day 81: All work and no play...well...a little bit...
Today was the last “free” day I had until I get home! Everyone started getting back from their trips, so the castle began to fill up again. My day started out with brunch, then after I compiled a list of all of the papers I need to write and when they’re due. So I started with my world drama presentation on sound in physical theatre. I found this really awesome company in NY that...

Day 74-80: Ireland pt.3 and lots of other stuff.
Alright. I am once again updating a weeks worth of shenanigans in one post. Enjoy!
Day 74: Last day in Ireland. We slept in a little bit and got moving around eleven. Our first thing was walking to the old docks in Dublin. We walked along the river Liffey and saw the future site of the U2 tower that was apparently proposed last year. Right now it’s an empty lot. We then saw the docks and...
Day 72&73: Ireland pt. 2
Day 72: We woke up around 9 and headed off by 10. Out first stop was at the south street market. Unfortunately, we didn’t look at the times it was open, so most everything was closed. After, we headed to or walking tour of the city. We had done a tour with this company before and they were great. This tour was no different. Our guide was fantastic and he took us to a lot of cool places and...

Day 69-71: We really do go to Hogwarts/Ireland pt....
So I am currently sitting in my hostel in Ireland. So far I really like Dublin. It reminds me a lot of boston but with a lot more music. So here’s what you’ve missed.
Day 69: Wednesday was a pretty chill day. I had class in the morning, then spent the rest of the afternoon at Downton (if you haven’t seen the bbc show Downton abbey, you need to!). After dinner we were told we...

Day 62-68: Paris...(I need to start posting more)
Day 62: We went on a field trip for my History class first to a WW2 Canadian Cemetery. It was really cool and at the same time really sad because most of the men buried there are my age or around it. It’s crazy and so sad to think about it, but it was so interesting to see an actual WW2 cemetery and battle field. The only other WW2 monument I have been to is Pearl Harbor and that is...

Day 55-61: Roma!!! (This one is SUPER long!)
Ok, it’s been a full week since I last posted. Sorry. Things get really busy really quickly and I don’t want to write when I’m too busy to really concentrate and write well (I use the word well very loosely). So here is goes…
Day 55: Just another Wednesday. Got my laundry done and had to pack for Rome because we left on a Thursday. In my history class we have finally...
Sorry for the lack of updating...
My hostel had no internet and it’s been crazy since getting back Monday afternoon. I will have a Rome update tomorrow for sure! It was awesome and a lot of walking and we were in a grand total of four countries the entire weekend. I think that’s some sort of personal record. Will share tomorrow!

Day 53 and 54: Back to the Salt Mines
Sometimes I forget the reason I’m at the castle is to take classes. Well, at least that’s a big part of the castle program. Monday consisted of finishing season 1 of Downton Abbey which is a fantastic show if you haven’t seen it. It makes me want to go back in live during that time. But then I remember they had no modern technology and the world was on the verge of war, so then I...

Day 48-52: Firenze pt 2 and Cinque Terre (It's a...
Sorry for the lack of updates over break. I didn’t have wifi for a while, so here’s the update now!
Day 48: We planned on doing a walking tour of the city and when we got to the meeting point, there was this really creepy looking guy holding up the sign with the name of the tour on it, so we thought it would be best to skip the tour and walk around ourselves. The city was small enough...
Day 47: Firenze!
Bonjorno from Italia! It is super gorgeous here and the sky is amazing! We started out this morning with a taxi to the airport at 4am. Took a flight, then a bus, then two trains, and then another bus and the we finally made it to florence! We are all super exhausted as expected, but we did get to do some walking around. We checked into our bed and breakfast at 3pm (yes it did take us 11 hours to...
Day 45 & 46: Madrid pt 2
I am currently typing this from my hostel in Madrid. It’s my last night here and tomorrow I’m off to Italy for a week! Sunday we woke up early and everyone was super tired from being out until 5am the night before. We went to the Prado museum again and this time actually got to see more than one room. We saw Velazquez which was pretty cool and Goya as well. After we went to lunch and...
Day 43 & 44: Madrid pt. 1
Hola from Madrid! So far it’s been a fun two day in Madrid. The city is super gorgeous and no one speaks English. Surprisingly, this is the first time I’ve been to a major city and no one really speaks English. I’m glad that out of all he cities it’s Madrid because I can at less speak a little but if Spanish. We started off Friday morning at 4 am. We got to schipol airport and took a 3 1/2...

Day 41 and 42: I am Sherlock Holmes!
More midterms and shtuff. Wednesday I had a break from midterms and instead did a lot of research for Rome, Ireland, and Italy. I am so excited to go to Ireland you have no idea!!! My art history midterm was pretty easy. I was so afraid it was going to be ridiculously hard and ask questions I had no idea what the answer could be, but instead, I just reasoned my way through all of them. I kind of...

Day 39 and 40: Midterms!!!
This week is midterms which means it’s pretty much the worst week all semester because we are also trying to get ready for a 10 day travel break and book things for after break and study for four midterms and write at least two papers! It’s been crazy, but fun. Monday I spent the day procrastinating on studying and eventually actually studied and wrote a paper. Tuesday was all...

Day 36-38: London!!!
First off, London was absolutely amazing! It was nothing like I expected and fantastic. Unfortunately, I didn’t run into the Doctor while I was there (or did I and something went horribly wrong and he had to wipe my memory? Or maybe the Silence was there? Or maybe…well, you get the point). I did get to see the Tardis though! Sadly, it wasn’t 10’s, but it was still awesome....

Day 35: Apparently Crabs Eat Ham?
Today I had two classes, but one of them was my awful four hour lit class. It wasn’t too bad today. During one of our breaks, my teacher played a student in ping pong. She lost, but was actually really good! The guy she played is like the best at the castle, so I’m pretty sure she could have beaten anyone else besides him. After class, I went into town to mail my application for the...

Day 34: I forgot...
Just one class today. Easy peasy. The rest of the day was spent with the Doctor and friends (the real kind). I forgot to mention, on Monday, Emily and I went on a bike ride to Germany! It was a beautiful ride through the “forest”. The sky was beautiful and the fields were very green. There were even horses! The ride was 6 miles round trip. I don’t think I’ve biked that much...

Day 32 and 33: Carnival Continued
So the Carnival celebration continues. Monday was the light parade where basically all of the floats that were in the normal Sunday parade and dressed up in lights and paraded down again. The night started off with fireworks off of the roof of De Buun. I was frightened. I already hate fireworks and when they are really close to me I freak out. I’m also sure a least one misfired and exploded...

Day 30 and 31: One Month Mark
I can’t believe it’s already a third of the way through the semester!!! I’m not ready to leave!!! Anyways, this weekend is Carnival. It’s kind of like the Dutch equivalent of Mardi Gras, but more family friendly…kind of. It’s basically a three day party filled with costumes, parties, and parades before lent. Only the south of the Netherlands celebrates it...

Day 29: Day trip!
It’s been nice so far having a weekend off. I forgot what it feels like to have nothing to do. Today I had to attend a play in Utrecht. Utrecht is the college city of the country. The play was an adaptation of Rain Man. It was actually pretty good. There was a lot of projection design that was alright and the music was a bit odd, but that was probably due to the fact that it’s the...

Day 28: The Plague Part II
Still sick. Today wasn’t too exciting. I had the presentation for my Global Lit class. It went really well, mostly because no one had read or understood the book, so it wasn’t our fault if the presentation sucked because it was all discussion based. Yay! Even so, people did talk a little bit. Overall, I think I did pretty well. The rest of the day consisted of lying in bed watching tv...

Day 27: The Plague!!!
The plague has come to Kasteel Well. Well, maybe not the plague, but there is definitely something going around. Almost everyone at the castle is sick in one way or another and I am no exception. I caught something, but I’m pretty sure it was in Paris because no one else has the same symptoms as I do, besides Emily who of course came to Paris with me. It’s awful because it’s all...

Day 22-26: Paris!!!
So sorry for not posting for a few days. It’s been really hectic with Paris being awesome, trying to figure out housing for next year, and oh yeah, school. So I’ve definitely been keeping busy this past week. Paris was super awesome! We did a lot of awesome stuff like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, Paris Opera House, the Orangerie, and of course, Disneyland!!!...

Day 20 and 21: Getting Ready!
Nothing exciting happened on either of these days. We have started preparing for Carnival, which is basically Mardi Gras in the Netherlands. We are going to be in the town parade and our theme is “90 Days Around Europe” and everyone picks a different country to represent and gets all dressed up. I will be Ireland! I know how I want to do my face-paint, but I’m not 100% sure on...

Day 19: "He doesn't count because he's foreign."
Class all day today. I thought having class all day Tuesday would be unbearable, but it’s actually quite nice. It gives me stuff to do and I am learning a lot of history about Europe. It’s been awesome learning 20th Century history from a German because in school you only get the winner’s perspective and not the losers. So it’s been really awesome. Dinner consisted of...

Day 15, 16, 17, 18: Praha!
I accidentally posted this on the wrong blog and didn’t realize it until now. So here are my notes from this weekend! Enjoy!
Prague day 1
Our day started at 7:45am catching the bus to Venlo train station. When we got to our bus stop, one of the guys realized he forgot his passport and had to run back to the castle. We decided to take the bus without him and meet him at the train station....

Day 14: Internet is alive!!! (For now)
Just another ordinary day. Two classes, three meals, and some Skype, packing, and planning. I finally sorted out Paris stuff. We are now taking a flight instead of the train because it’s faster and the same price. Nothing else to report. Off to Prague tomorrow! Once again, I probably won’t have internet, so I’ll do another mega post when I get back on Monday. Or maybe there will...

Day 13-Internet is slowly coming...
Just another boring day of classes, food, and castle life. Did a lot of reading for my lit class. We are reading “The Two Hearts of Kwasi Boachi.” Of course, my first thought is, “He’s a Timelord! Awesome! This book will be great!” But then I remembered this is a boring literature class and a Timelord in the mix would not be appropriate. So unfortunately, this book is...

Days 11 and 12: The Internet Apocalypse
I am combinding these two days into one post because A) I have no internet, and B) nothing really happened anyways. Monday was a pretty relaxing and boring day. I got a lot of homework done for the week because there was no internet. I guess that is an upside to not having internet is the ability to actually get stuff done. I have a lot of reading for my Tuesday classes, but I got it all done in...

Days 8,9,10: Opening the Tardis Doors
This is going to be a mega post of what I did over the weekend, so sorry if it’s long, but it is three days worth of magic in one convenient post! (Also Perry pictures will be put on sporadically through out the week).
First day in Amsterdam!
It was really great. We started with an early bus ride to the city. It only took us about 2 hours. After we arrived, we dropped off our stuff at the...

Day 7: Plans and Naps
Today was the last day of the first week of classes. I had Art and Literature. My lit teacher is really sweet and soft spoken. My favorite thing she said during the whole class was, “If you have a problem finishing books on time, let me know and we can arrange something.” It makes it sound like if we can’t read that much we don’t have to, but I know that’s not what...

Day 6: Getting into the Swing of Things
Second day of classes! I only had one in the morning, at it was a continuation of class yesterday. There isn’t any required reading in that class, which is awesome!!! The down side is that it’s at 10am. I didn’t set an alarm, thinking that I would wake up before 10 like I normally do, but instead, I woke up at 9:45. Luckily class is right downstairs, so I made it with time to...

Day 5: First Day of Classes for Reals
Today I had four classes back to back all in the same room. It felt like elementary school again. I had two sections of World Drama II, then Art History 1 and The World Since 1914. They all seem really great. The teachers really gear the classes to looking at the world from the European point of view, which is awesome. Yesterday I also booked my train to Paris. The train’s website is awful....
